Mathematically there in no difference to use 240v or 480v (watts=volts x amps), however, the size of the cables to supply 480v are smaller due to the lower current. There is less voltage drop across long runs, which means in some cases 480v provides higher efficiency.
Is 480 Volt power more efficient than 240 Volt power?
